Safe Waters is very proud to offer the following American Heart Assoication courses:
This eight hour course covers safety equipment, safe boat operation, rules of the road, aids to navigation, emergency procedures and rendering assistance and a host of other areas. This primarily classroom course integrates practical application of all skills using dockside demonstrations and other hands-on methods whenever possible. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and meets the New York State boating safety education requirements. Many insurance companies offer discounts to boat owners who have participated in this type of boating safety course.
This course is required in New York State for those between the ages of 10 and 18 to operate a motorboat in New York State without adult supervision and for those over 14 years of age to operate a Personal Watercraft (i.e. Jet Ski, Wave Runner, Sea Doo)
Upon completion of the 8 hours course, and passing the test with a 76% and above students will recieve a NY Sate Safe Boating Certificate. On the day of the course passing students will receive a temporary certificate and within 90 days students will receive their final certificate.
Course fee is $45 *Students 18 and over are required to pay an additional $10 directly to NY State to receive their final certificate.
